Dr. Makayla Gresham-Gunter is originally from Logan, WV and currently resides in Hurricane, WV. She graduated Valedictorian from Logan High School, and went on to earn a Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Physiology at West Virginia University graduating Summa Cum Laude.

Dr. Gunter completed the Doctor of Dental Surgery Program at the West Virginia University School of Dentistry, and following graduation, further studied Oral Pathology at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill.

While in residency, Dr. Gunter met her husband, Zach, a Physician Assistant at Cabell Huntington Hospital. The two were married in 2022 in Ironton, OH and welcomed their son, Brooks, in July of 2023.

Dr. Gunter is an active member of the American Dental Association, West Virginia Dental Association, and the Academy of General Dentistry. She also served as the 2019-20 District 6 Trustee to the American Student Dental Association and continues her involvement in ASDA as part of the alumni network. Most recently, she served as a member of the National Leadership Conference Planning Committee in Chicago, IL.

Dr. Gunter is a CAMC affiliated physician and performs outpatient dental surgery for complete oral rehabilitation in young children, special needs, and adult with extreme dental anxiety. She considers this the most rewarding aspect of her career as she is able to fulfill a great need in offering this service to the people of the Greater Charleston area.
