Matthew S. Scarberry, DDS, FAGD
Meet Dr. Scarberry
Dr. Matthew Scarberry is originally from Barboursville, WV and currently lives in Cross Lanes. He graduated from Cabell Midland High School in 1998 and from Marshall University in 2002 earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Molecular Biology and Physiology.
Following his tenure at Marshall, Dr. Scarberry completed the Doctor of Dental Surgery Program at the West Virginia University School of Dentistry in 2006. While in Morgantown, he met wife Kathleen Ghareeb-Scarberry, while she was completing her training to be a Registered Dental Hygienist. She is the daughter of Dr. Sami Ghareeb and the youngest sister of Dr. Mitri Ghareeb and Dr. Steven Ghareeb. Dr. Scarberry and Kathleen were married in 2007 under the rotunda at the State Capitol. Their first child, Juliet, was born in March 2013 and their second child Leeson was born in June 2014.
Dr. Scarberry joined Ghareeb Dental Group in 2008 and helped open the St. Albans Office in 2009. Last year, the St. Albans underwent a large addition and a complete remodel and update of all equipment and technology. Along with the other doctors at Ghareeb Dental Group, Dr. Scarberry is very involved in organized dentistry. He is an active member of the American Dental Association and the West Virginia Dental Association. He is an officer in the West Virginia Academy of General Dentistry, the President-Elect of the Kanawha Valley Dental Society, and one of the founding members of the West Virginia Chapter of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry. Dr. Scarberry also became a Fellow in the Academy of General Dentistry in 2016. In 2012, he was the Chairperson of the Give Kids A Smile Program which provides free dental care to uninsured children. Dr. Scarberry also regularly volunteers at Health Right providing dental care to the less fortunate in the Charleston area. He is also an adjunct professor for the WVU School of Dentistry’s Rural Health Program.
Dr. Scarberry enjoys the variety of procedures that being a general dentist allows him to perform. A wide range of services is provided including Implant Placement and Restoration, Crowns, Bridges, Root Canals, Fillings, Extractions, along with Complete and Partial Dentures. The St. Albans Office is Dr. Scarberry’s main location but he also spends Wednesdays in Teays Valley and some Saturdays at the Poca Office.
