Born in Arizona while his father was in the United States Army, Dr. Spain was raised in the midwest, primarily the Chicago area. He graduated from Purdue University with a bachelor’s degree in Biology and received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Indiana University in 1986.

While attending dental school Dr. Spain met his wife who is a native West Virginian. After they married and began their life together their professional careers led them to the St. Louis area where they lived and worked for 10 years. As Dr. Spain traveled to West Virginia with his wife he began to develop a love for the State and its people. Dr. Spain made the decision to relocate to West Virginia in 1998 and has been a proud Mountaineer since that time.

While out of the office, Dr. Spain enjoys the many outdoor activities that West Virginia has in abundance. He is an avid fly fisherman. Dr. Spain makes his own rods and has donated some of his handmade fly fishing rods to servicemen wounded in the middle east conflicts.
